Edmonton West Dental Clinic works at Enoch, on the western edge of the city, and is family owned. Its founding dentist, Dr. Deb Crowfoot, is recorded as the second First Nations dentist to practise in Canada; he started on the Siksika Nation reserve and later opened clinics across Alberta and Saskatchewan. New patients of all ages are accepted, with room for emergency walk-ins.

Treatments and services

Day-to-day care covers exams, hygiene visits, tooth-coloured fillings, oral cancer screening, night and sports guards. Gum work covers periodontal treatment, scaling and root planing, and halitosis. Staff walk eligible First Nations and Inuit patients through eligibility and paperwork, submit claims directly, and explain what is covered and what to do if a claim is refused — removing the administrative puzzle that often blocks a first appointment.

Dentists

Dr. Strater Crowfoot is board certified in both pediatric and general dentistry, so the youngest patients stay in-house. Dr. Greg ZoBell, of the Ahtakahkoop Cree Nation, completed a general practice residency at the University of Alberta Hospital, focuses on implants and wisdom tooth removal, and is certified in IV sedation. Dr. Alyssa Orobko and Dr. Glenn Gillis are University of Alberta graduates; Dr. Sal Rashid trained at Sydney University.
