The city was also named <strong>Canada\u2019s Most Open City<\/strong> in <strong>2015, 2016, 2017, and 2019<\/strong>. Known as <strong>\u201cThe City of Health\u201d<\/strong>, this initiative fosters <strong>healthcare innovations<\/strong> by local companies and partners to address <strong>community health challenges<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project collaborates with <strong>Edmonton\u2019s municipal government, startups, and major organizations<\/strong> to help residents take <strong>better control of their health<\/strong>. Additionally, <strong>digital displays at bus stops<\/strong> provide <strong>real-time arrival updates and route changes<\/strong>. Commuters can also track <strong>bus routes in real-time<\/strong> using the <strong>ETS Live app<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In <strong>early 2025<\/strong>, Edmonton <strong>completed<\/strong> an <strong>electronic fare payment system<\/strong> for public transit, allowing passengers to pay using <strong>credit or debit cards<\/strong> or <strong>digital wallets<\/strong>. The portal also features <strong>urban development maps, city planning documents, and municipal budget expenditures<\/strong>. This level of <strong>digitalization<\/strong> enhances <strong>government transparency and public engagement<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Edmonton is actively embracing <strong>digital transformation<\/strong> across various sectors, with <strong>ambitious plans to become a &#8220;city of the future&#8221; by 2040<\/strong>.
