He recalls a childhood filled with adventure\u2014exploring meteorite craters and building treehouses. He grew up in a moderately Christian family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Peterson holds a <strong>Bachelor&#8217;s degree in Political Science<\/strong> and a <strong>Bachelor&#8217;s degree in Psychology<\/strong> from the <strong>University of Alberta<\/strong>. He later earned a <strong>Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology<\/strong> from <strong>McGill University<\/strong>. His worldview was significantly influenced by the book <em>The Road to Wigan Pier<\/em>, which he read during his studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After a period of teaching at <strong>Harvard University<\/strong>, Peterson returned to Canada in <strong>1998<\/strong> to become a <strong>Professor of Psychology at the University of Toronto<\/strong>. Before his academic career took off, he worked various jobs, including as a beekeeper, driver, dishwasher, bartender, and railway worker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In <strong>1999<\/strong>, Peterson published his first book, <em>Maps of Meaning: The Architecture of Belief<\/em>, which became the foundation for many of his lectures. The book integrates <strong>religion, philosophy, and psychology<\/strong>, offering a structured analysis of human beliefs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In <strong>2018<\/strong>, Peterson ended his clinical practice and teaching career. That same year, he published <em>12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos<\/em>, which became a <strong>global bestseller<\/strong>. In <strong>2019<\/strong>, he struggled with <strong>prescription drug dependency<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In <strong>2022<\/strong>, Peterson was appointed <strong>Chancellor of Ralston College<\/strong>, a <strong>private, unaccredited<\/strong> institution in Georgia that describes itself as a haven for <strong>free thought and speech<\/strong>. The college is associated with <strong>several conservative figures<\/strong>, including Peterson himself.
