western edge of the city, and is family owned. Its founding dentist, Dr. Deb Crowfoot, is recorded as the second First Nations dentist to practise in Canada; he started on the Siksika Nation reserve and later opened clinics across Alberta and Saskatchewan. New patients of all ages are accepted, with room for emergency walk-ins.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Treatments_and_services\"><\/span>Treatments and services<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Day-to-day care covers exams, hygiene visits, tooth-coloured fillings, oral cancer screening, night and sports guards. Gum work covers periodontal treatment, scaling and root planing, and halitosis. Restorative work runs to crowns, bridges and dentures; cosmetic care covers porcelain veneers, whitening and composite bonding. Root canal therapy, wisdom tooth extraction, oral surgery, Invisalign, sedation and children&#8217;s care run from the same office.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"NIHB_for_First_Nations_and_Inuit_patients\"><\/span>NIHB for First Nations and Inuit patients<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The clinic is built around the federal Non-Insured Health Benefits program. Staff walk eligible First Nations and Inuit patients through eligibility and paperwork, submit claims directly, and explain what is covered and what to do if a claim is refused \u2014 removing the administrative puzzle that often blocks a first appointment.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Dentists\"><\/span>Dentists<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Dr. Strater Crowfoot is board certified in both pediatric and general dentistry, so the youngest patients stay in-house. Dr. Greg ZoBell, of the Ahtakahkoop Cree Nation, completed a general practice residency at the University of Alberta Hospital, focuses on implants and wisdom tooth removal, and is certified in IV sedation.
